Roadmap
Our team is small, but we are always improving. Here is our tentative roadmap for future development and a list of current xStar analysis limitations. Please email rick@xstarresearch.com with additional feedback, roadmap requests, or to vote for increasing the priority of a certain feature.
Roadmap
December 2025: A1-A3 embodied carbon analysis
December 2025: hourly energy analysis
TBD: automatically map Revit families to xStar assemblies
TBD: below grade walls U-factor calculation
Analysis Limitations
Revit Data Export
Curved surfaces in Revit are not supported.
Demolition phases are not supported. Current behavior is: demolished elements are included in the xStar model if they were created or demolished in a phase selected by the user in the Setup dialog.
Door geometry is assumed to be rectangular. Width and height are taken from the family built-in width and height parameters.
Structural foundation footings with multiple materials (e.g. concrete + insulation) have a single volume calculated for them.
Cost Analysis
Demolition costs are not automatically included and must be explicitly added by the user.
Energy Analysis
Framing with unfilled cavity has assumed value of R-0 (this is conservative).
Double stud framing not supported when stud layers are adjacent.
Below grade walls are not supported. U-factor calculations assume above grade walls.
Balance point energy analysis is low fidelity and not accredited (see Heating & Cooling Load Analysis for more details).
